Collection: Magatamas by Miyuki

An interesting shaped bead - and a new offering from Miyuki - the same company that makes Delicas. The regular Magatama is more of an off-centre round - these are shaped more like a sliced carrot - sliced on the diagonal, and then with a hole punched through - not the centre - but near the top.

Long magatamas measure 4mm x 7mm with a hole size of 1mm. Count is approximately 8 beads per gram, about 80 per 10g tube.

Traditionally Magatama beads were comma shaped beads or jewels made in prehistoric Japan from clay or stone. Magatama glass sead beads are great for adding texture in kumihimo, fringe, or in off-loom beadweaving.
