This is a reproduction of a Roman coin. While I haven't found the exact coin yet - this is Maximian - and circa 300 AD (CE). On the reverse is Hercules. Maximian was the dude in charge when the guy he assigned to watch over the English channel (Carausius) decided to make a move and set up shop as Emperor in Britain, paving the way for the secession of Britain. Maximian was unsuccessful at defeating Carausius, who was eventually assassinated by his finance minister (notice how that doesn't happen so much anymore?). Maximian had a busy life, ruled Rome three times, got involved in lots of plots and schemes, and was eventually caught in an assassination attempt and encourage to commit suicide (which he did.) Career politicians have it much easier now.
These are nice reproductions and would combine with some of Un-buried treasure / archeology beads for some interesting historical homage pieces.
These are cast, not die-stamped and are nice quality.
33mm By the each.
